Welcome to my blog!

Hi, my name is Kristina and this is the first blog I have ever written, so I am excited. I live in Fairbanks, Alaska, and have lived here since I was two years old. So I consider myself an Alaskan. I am a mother first and foremost to four beautiful children. I have three girls and my youngest is a boy. I am working on my Bachelor's in Education and thinking about minoring in Art. We shall see how it goes. My son plays sports so you can find me most evenings at the hockey rink doing homework or in the summers on the baseball fields. My hobbies include spending time with my family while going camping, fishing, hunting, and hiking and I also like to sew, do crafts, draw, and read a good book. As I said I do love to draw, paint, and work with clay while I also do enjoy looking at art. The most memorable art museum I have been to is when I went to Amsterdam, I got the chance to visit the Van Gogh Museum and see his paintings. That was the neatest experience and as teenage kids do, found out that you can't get too close to the paintings. 😉 my favorite is Starry Night and Starry Night over the Rhone.

I also enjoy wondering why a certain painting was made and what the artist thought and had in mind for the artwork. I also love to see when the human body is painted well showing the inside of the body or a painting is painted in a way you wouldn't normally see like on the Museum Anatomy website. I just find it fascinating that people can paint like that, it takes some imagination and skill. I don't go to any museums or art shows in Fairbanks but I would love to. I wanted to see the Van Gogh traveling Immersive Experience when it came to Anchorage but I wasn't able to make it. If it ever comes back or is in a city I visit that will be the next big show I would like to see.

Thank you for reading my first blog. My question to you is can you share what your favorite piece of art is? Why is it your favorite?

Have a wonderful day!

Kristina
